Jennifer Miller has been involved in the documentary, art and commercial photography world since graduating NYU with a BFA in photography. After school, she interned with the innovative curators Marvin Heiferman and Carole Kismaric, assisted book designers at Aperture and dug deep into the famous Magnum Photos archive as a photo researcher. At Magnum, she had the opportunity to work closely with Inge Morath, Gilles Peress, Susan Meiselas, Danny Lyon and others to supply images for various publications. Her first photo director position was at JFK Jr’s, George magazine where she was given the freedom to explore portraiture, fashion and reportage in unusual ways. She was also the Visuals Director at Condé Nast Traveler as well as Photo Director at Martha Stewart Living, New York magazine and Jane magazine. Over the years, she has had the privilege to work with photographers such as Richard Burbridge, Jim Goldberg, Katy Grannan, Inez and Vinoodh, Martin Parr, Larry Sultan, Stephen Shore, Mario Sorrenti and Nick Waplington.. Photography awards for editorial work include American Photography, Photo District News, TIME magazine and The Society of Publication Designers. Freelance projects include Flamingo Estate/Chronicle Books, Seattle magazine, Compass Real Estate, BIG magazine and adjunct professor at Parson’s photography program.
